You Are Not Going to Believe Me

"My Good Side"

One day while visiting a favorite outdoor venue, I came across a flock of ducks. As ducks often do, they were walking about in search of food.  None of them seem to pay me any attention—well all except for the one pictured here.  I thought it would be great to capture some exposures of them while they migrated. I did not want to miss out on the opportunity, so I quickly set up my camera gear and positioned myself accordingly.  As I raised my camera and looked through the viewfinder, I noticed that one of the ducks seemed to strike a side profile pose and did not move for several moments. The other ducks were moving about, but this one was staying put. To say that this behavior completely caught me off guard would be an understatement.

I captured several exposures of it until I was content that I had gotten the shots that I wanted.  I then lowered my camera back down and let it rest by my side. Almost immediately after I had done so, the duck proceeded to move about again.  I could not believe what I was seeing!  It was as if the duck knew what I was doing and it wanted to make sure that I captured it in the most flattering way.  It wanted to make sure that I captured its good side and I did my best to do just that!  Well, there you have it!  That is my story and I’m sticking with it!
